Cecily Wong graduated from Barnard College, where the first pages of DIAMOND HEAD won the Peter S. Prescott Prize for Prose, judged by Elizabeth Strout, Caryl Philipps and Malena Watrous. She lives in New York City. Chinese-Hawaiian herself, she is twenty-six years old. Much of DIAMOND HEAD is based on true stories passed down through the generations of her own family – many of whose members still live on Oahu to this day.
