Laura Brodie received a B.A. from Harvard and an M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Virginia, and is currently a Visiting Professor of English at Washington and Lee University. Her first book, BREAKING OUT: VMI and the Coming of Women, was published by Pantheon and Vintage. Her first novel, THE WIDOW’S SEASON, won the Faulkner Society of New Orleans 2005 prize for Best Novel-In-Progress and is due to be published by Berkley Books. She lives with her husband and their three young daughters in Lexington, Virginia.
