Originally from Minnesota, Jacey Mitziga, double-majored in English writing and Psychology at Concordia College before attending New York University’s M.S. in Publishing: Print and Digital Media program, which she graduated from in 2018. Prior to joining DeFiore and Company as an agent assistant, she held internships at the National Book Foundation, W.W. Norton & Company, The Zoë Pagnamenta Agency, and Flatiron Books. She is a volunteer for the National Book Foundation.
While her interests are varied, Jacey is primarily drawn to literary fiction and upmarket commercial fiction, with a particular interest in underrepresented voices, writing with a strong sense of place and heart. She is also interested in memoir, narrative non-fiction in the categories of politics and current affairs, history, sociology, and deep-dive journalism. She is ever longing to learn more, broaden her perspective, and to be driven to think more deeply. Some of her favorite books include The Mothers by Brit Bennett, A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara, Freshwater by Akwaeke Emezi, Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates, and Hillbilly Elegy by J.D. Vance.
