Martha Woodroof

Martha Woodroof has owned restaurants, taught preschool, worked as a psychiatric occupational therapy aid, hosted a TV talk show, been a TV news anchor, jocked country music, cooked for an artist’s colony, clerked at a convenience store, worked at a college bookstore, run a railroad crew hotel, and failed to sell cars. She’s worked as an NPR and freelancer since the 1980s, reporting mainly on books, and has her own weekly show on Virginia’s WMRA, “The Spark.” Her writing has appeared in The Washington Post, The New York Times Magazine, The Chicago Tribune,, and other regional publications. She lives in Virginia.
