David Getz is an award-winning author of seven books for children: Thin Air(1990) Almost Famous (1992), Frozen Man (1994) Floating Home (1997) Life on Mars (1997) Frozen Girl (1998) and Purple Death (2000). A retired New York City public school educator, he was the principal of East Side Middle School (MS 114) from 2003-2023. He lives in Manhattan with his wife, Jacqui, who is also a retired NYC public school leader. They have three adult daughters and are avid Mets fans.
